A Muslim woman, who had alleged a couple of days ago that she had been attacked by supporters of US President-elect Donald Trump at a subway in the city, later confessed that she had lied about the incident.

when probed by the New York police, it turned out that the incident had never taken place and the girl admitted to lying about it. Yasmin Seweid, 18, was charged with falsifying a police report and obstructing governmental administration as she admitted to making up the story about being assaulted by Donald Trump's supporters a couple of days ago.

Seweid had posted about the incident on Facebook and claimed that she had been attacked by three Trump supporters, who also called her a 'terrorist'. After the allegations, she went missing for a couple of days which sparked a frantic missing person's appeal.
Police claimed that Yasmin confessed that she had made up the lie in order to get out of trouble for staying out late at night with her friends and drinking. Police disclosed that her brother Abdoul was also charged with lying to the police about being assaulted back in 2012, when it was later revealed that he was breaking into cars.

Ever since Donald Trump won the US Presidential elections of 2016, hate crimes have surged throughout the USA, UK and Europe. Studies and surveys have claimed that the recent spark in violence is linked to Trump's anti-Muslim statements, such as when the business tycoon suggested imposing a ban on the entry of Muslims into the United States.
